The Broad Fish Tapeworm, or Diphyllobothrium latum, is a type of paristical worm that infects fish and animals. Naturally native to Russia, they have recently begun to increase theor population in N. America. The worm itself is composed of three segments the scolex (head), the neck, and the lower body. The head of the worm has a groove like slit on each side and from the neck there are growths of numerous proglottid segments which contain the reproductive organs of the worm. The worm feeds off of its host ingested nutrients, similar to the Beef tapeworm that infects humans. It can also infect humans if they consume raw fish.
