CHIMNEY SPONGE
The Chimney Sponge, otherwise known as Callyspongia fallax, is a species of sponge that forms a very unique structure that bears resembence to a chimney. The purpose of this struture is to vent water in and out of the sponge, ironically also serving as a type of "chimney". The skeletal system of the chimney sponge is similar to the polymastia aurantium, with the structure being formed of a mesh of both sopongon and mineral spicules. Some scientists believe this type of sponge lives symbiotically with the organisms in its ecosystem, a trait which they hope to study further.
